Love Alone

Barnard Media
Forget about guns, explosions and epic car scenes... This is a short film about the appreciation of the simple things in life.

Behind the scenes of Love Alone

For camera equipment we used a Canon 70d (50mm f/1.8 STM) with a Manfrotto 055 tripod and a 502 video head. For audio we only used Rode products. We had a VideoMicro on our 70d and a VideoMic Rycote on a Rode micro boom pole for the voiceover. Getting a good quality voiceover was a priority as it was telling 3/4 of the story. We shot the whole film in our house and in our back garden over two days because it rained one afternoon. I wanted to keep my cinematography very clean and basic and not too sophisticated. Despite the advanced features our editing software (FCPX), I didn't even use half of them as I wanted clean cuts and standard cross dissolves with nothing over the top or 'tacky'. I used the modern Helvetica Neue font as it didn't stand out too much either and was very simplistic.
