This is how excepting that someone is different than i am works. This is how integration has to look like. I got to know a girl who was diagnosed with a spinal muscular atrophy. She is limited in everything she does on the most brutal way you can think of. Yet she loves her life and is full of joy. That´s because there are other children who have excepted her the way she is. And the way they life with her is what inspired me to shoot this film.

Behind the scenes of Marte

The Camera that I use is a Canon Eos 700D with a 17-40mm F4 L Lens. I use that combination because the cameras price point allowed me to by a more expensive lens with a better image quality. To get better audio i use the Rode Videomic. This setup is very small and compact which allowed me to use a shoulderrig and a steady cam. I did´t used a tripod for this shoot, because I wanted to get in close so you get a better immersive feel.

In terms of location I shoot the whole film in one day at the primary school in my home town. Because I want to show how the kids work together with Marte I picked a regular school day. That helped the kids not being too much disturbed by the camera ;-)

Over all everyone who was taking part in the film was very happy with with the film we came up with. Especially the parents of Marte were really happy to see how well their daughter is being integrated into the class by the other kids.
