Seoul Then and Now is a rephotography project meant to capture Korea's “bballi-bballi” (빨리빨리) culture and show how quickly society moves. I selected photos from the 1960s, 1970s, 1980s, and even a few from the '90s, then revisited those same spots to see how much Seoul changed. Even though the city’s face has changed considerably, its heart remains untouched.

My BTS video is a fun blog-type video. I shot the film using a Canon 60D with an EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.0 USM lens and an EF-L 15-35mm f/2.0 II USM lens. I used a RØDE VideoMic to capture street audio. I especially like the VideoMic series because they plug directly into the Canon and don't drain the battery, which means I only had to carry one battery and no syncing in post. The voiceover was recorded on a Neumann u87s condenser mic.

My editor Leigh and I used the audio I captured throughout the film for our sound design, especially in the opening sequence with the motorcycle sounds of the Quick Service drivers. The remainder of the vlog was shot using my iPhone 6 and footage taken from Snapchat Spectacles to give an interesting first-person perspective (and also to let me film hands free).
